She hadn't thought she would become a big hit in Sri Lanka. Heck, Pooja hadn't even thought she would become an actress. But after she was noticed by (late) director Jeeva shopping on Brigade Road in Bangalore, and cast in her first role as the Anglo Indian girlfriend of actor Arya in Ullam Ketkume, there has been no turning back. In fact, even her shoot to superstardom in Sri Lanka happened by accident. The half-Srilankan actress decided to stay in Colombo with her mother and grandparents for a while, when she thought she should act in movies. "So, I did, on a whim, just to make my grand-dad happy. I mean, he has seen all my Tamil movies, but he does not understand the language. He was thrilled with my debut film Anjalika." Pooja did another two after that, which also became superhits. "but now I've decided to concentrate on the Tamil and Telugu offers," says the actress. In Tamil, right now, there's Bala's Naan Kadavul to complete and in Telugu, a debut in the offing.
