Manisha Koirala returns to the big screen with Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava, but there are minimal chances of the film's success. The movie suffers from bad marketing and poor promos, which are shown only on selective channels. Surprisingly, the promos just show Irrfan Khan, and Manisha is conspicuous by her absence, although she plays the lead role.
Tulsi - Mathru Devo Bhava is the remake of 1993 Telugu hit Mathru Devo Bhava. K Ajayakumar is the director of the original version of the film as well. Madhavi, who starred in the Telugu version, had bagged a National Award for the role which is being played by Manisha in the remake.
Irrfan plays on-screen husband of Manisha and he had declared, "It is a highly emotional film, something which will hit you in your face. I like working in such movies, which have a strong script."
The film also features yesteryear actor Vikram (Julie, Swami) who plays the character of a man who runs an `ashram` which takes care of orphans. Vikram says, "the film revolves around three characters - Manisha Koirala, Irrfan Khan and myself. It is a very hard-hitting subject."
