Shekar Kammula on Big Heroes

Director Shekar Kammula is a hotshot director. He is now easily the most sought after director in Tollywood. He gave a super duper hit with an almost all new star cast with Happy Days . The film is one of the biggest hits of 2007. But Shekar Kammula is a very levelheaded guy and is not carried away easily.

Nagarjuna , Venkatesh , Mahesh Babu and several others have expressed their interest to star in a film under his direction. Shekar is exploring various options. He feels that directing big heroes is very difficult. They all come with a heavy baggage of a big pre-set image. They also carry the burden of the expectations of their fans. It is not an easy task to live up to the expectations of the fans of big stars, says Shekar. Balakrishna's film 'Okka Mogadu' is a recent example.

Shekar Kammula was presented with K V Reddy award in Hyderabad the other day. Akkineni Nageswara Rao presented the award to Shekar Kammula at a glittering function at the Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Hyderabad. The Chaitanya Bharathi Educational Society organized the function. It is well known that Shekar studied in CBIT.

Shriya & Namitha in Tamil Nadu Assembly

It was a heated debate in the Tamil Nadu State Legislative Assembly on Monday about the revealing and skimpy dresses that Namitha wore as the judge of a dance show telecast on a private television channel and Shriya Saran wore at silver jubilee function of Shivaji movie in which the CM had also taken part.

T Velmurugan of PMK started the debate by attacking the television channels and the film industry for spoiling Tamil culture and tradition through obscene scenes and lyrics. The PMK was of the opinion that there should be a law imposing a dress code for actresses like Shriya and Namitha who come out in revealing clothes for public functions.

Public Works Minister Durai Murugan and Electricity Minister Arcot Veerasamy responded by saying that the actresses can only be advised to dress appropriately and that there can't be a yardstick to judge obscenity.

Besides PMK, the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) had also objected to the way Shriya Saran was dressed at the film function and filed a police complaint against her. In respose to this the actress had sent an apology letter to the Chennai Police and the Chief Minister. In her apology letter she has said that she was coming from Istanbul in Turkey, where she was shooting for the Hindi film Mission Istanbul, to attend the function, she had no time to change her dress.

Shriya found herself at the receiving end of some scathing criticism from a not-so-well-known political outfit in Tamil Nadu for turning up in a daring neckline at a public function. But the girl must be appreciated for the dignity with which she handled the controversy. She could have easily shot back saying it's her prerogative to decide what she wears and set off an unending war of words and might have even garnered support from the feminists of the world. Instead she chose to tender a carefully worded apology thereby nipping the controversy in the bud and wining hearts of her naysayers themselves. Kuddos to Shriya.

I observe that my fans have taken it to their heart and reacted violently. I condemn their act. I want that admiration should not lead to violent reactions.” He further said that he felt very disturbed on hearing the news of attack on Rajasekhar couple and children by his fans. “I thought I would never get peace of mind until and unless I see and apologize to Rajasekhar. It is due to forethought and driving of Rajasekhar that we are saved.”

Rajasekhar and Jeevita are like my family members."

Charmy, a true Professional

Charmy is one of the true professionals, in the present day tollywood cinema. When she made her first debut in the film Nee Thodu kavali , she was a ripe Punjabi girl in that movie.
Then she changed her looks in Krishna Vamsi's Sri Anjaneyam and looked more like a telugu girl and also brushed her telugu language little bit for that movie.

Then she learnt telugu language, including the grammar and now looks well apt as a true telugu girl with some polished Telugu language.

Recently she changed her image from a glam doll to a serious heroine oriented roles to prove to her critics that has is not only a girl with sexy curves ,but also an actress with impeccable acting talent.

This acting skill of her was clearly seen in her latest, Mantra which was a thriller and also a decent hit. But still her critics taunted her that she looked plum and has to shed oodles of weight to again fit into a character of Bapu Bomma.

She again decided to take a step and concentrated on toning her body and now it can be said that she has succeeded in doing so, as she has donned a slim and toned look, but with a heavy bosom.

Her latest yet to be released movie Sundarakanda, which is under final touch ups, can be taken as a example , as the photos of charmy in this film look adorable and her slim look looks hot and well suits the Parkini's she wore in the film suggest so.

It is said that she has taken up a decision to hit the Gym regularly to maintain the slim and Sexy figure from now on. This was a suggestion given by Nagarjuna and Krishna Vamsi in a recent function and charmy is following it.

So let's hope that charmy will maintain her sexy figure well and film offers will be flooding her from now on.

Prabhas, NTRjr, Raviteja and Siddhu to campaign for Congress Party?

The Congress government is planning to sweeten its massive pre-election publicity blitzkrieg with hit Telugu films. Specially modified vehicles will tour all the 294 Assembly constituencies in the state and screen Tollywood hits to attract people. In between, they will be persuaded to see short films on various achievements of the Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy government in the last three-and- a-half years.

The campaign, named Integrated Mobile Publicity in Assembly Constituencies (IMPACT), is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore and is likely to be launched on February 1. Sources told this correspondent that the government had purchased the rights of 20 Telugu blockbusters by spending Rs 50 crore to "retain the audience" in rural areas.  They include Varsham starring Prabhas, Amma Nana Oka Tamil Ammayi starring Ravi Teja, Bommarillu with Siddharth and Simhadri in which Jr NTR plays the main role.

Interestingly, the Congress publicity managers have decided not to screen films starring N.T. Rama Rao and Chiranjeevi though they are very popular among people. They believe that NTR films may end up benefiting the Telugu Desam while Chiranjeevi hits might provide more mileage for the superstar who is planning to enter politics.

The short films will focus on general achievements and success stories relating to the particular area where the screening is being held. Two private firms have been chosen to take out the publicity campaign in the run-up to the 2009 elections. Sources said the campaign will be taken out in two phases. In the first phase, costing Rs 34 crore (apart from Rs 50 crore for the films), 147 Assembly constituencies will be covered.

Each vehicle will cover 100 villages in 50 days and conduct two screenings per day. They will publicise the Congress government's flagship programmes and schemes including free power, Jalayagnam, Indiramma, Paavala Vaddi, NREGS, land distribution, Indira Prabha, Rajeev Udyoga Shree and Arogya Sri.

Sorry for star Nights- Trisha

Film Stars are star attractions at Cultural Programs and new shops opening. They charge huge amount for couple of hours entertainment. Especially female artists get more attractions to those events  and the organizers naturally go after female artists.

Many event organizers like to have Trisha as their guest for their cultural programs but Trisha says No to all such star nights.

Trisha says' Most of the time, we go around foreign locations for the shootings and we get tiered , so we can's allot time for such events and the same time it is very difficult to adjust our call sheets for such events'.
